City Winery Pittsburgh presents WESLEY STACE Alone (and Together) Tour live on stage Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 7:30 PM

Wesley Stace, the man formerly known as John Wesley Harding, presents his fall USA tour “Alone (and Together)”, for which he will play songs from throughout his storied career, precisely as nature intended: on his own, in his own time, on his own dime. One Man, one guitar, one voice, one harmonica, occasional whistling. He welcomes all your requests, in advance, by email. (WARNING: the occasional friend mayundermine this singular concept.)

ABOUT WESLEY STACE

Wesley Stace (aka John Wesley Harding) may well be the best UK songwriter you’ve probably never heard of! Resident in the USA since the early nineties, he's been joined on stage by Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and John Prine to name just a few, and his songs have been sung by, among others, Rosanne Cash, Tanya Donelly, Graham Parker, Josh Ritter and Wreckless Eric. This will be his first UK tour in 15 years. His live shows are always worth catching: expect an evening not only of great songs, but also a healthy serving of razor sharp wit and wisdom.

Wesley Stace was born in Hastings in 1965. Since 1988, he has released many albums under the name John Wesley Harding and recorded duets with, among others, Bruce Springsteen, Lou Reed and Rosanne Cash. Stace has published four novels, including the international bestseller Misfortune, and recently co-wrote Mark Morris’ memoir Out Loud. He also created Cabinet of Wonders, a monthly show that plays at New York City’s City Winery, and which The New Yorker called “one of the finest nights of entertainment this city has to offer.” His opera Dido’s Ghost, composed by Errollyn Wallen, premiered at the Barbican Theatre in London in June ’21. Stace has taught at Princeton, Swarthmore and Fairleigh-Dickinson, and writes regularly for the Times Literary Supplement and the Wall Street Journal. He lives in Philadelphia.
