Oh He Dead with special guest ViRG Vision
City Winery Pittsburgh presents Oh He Dead with special guest ViRG Vision on Sunday, December 8th, 2024 at 7:30 PM!
City Winery is pleased to present the new Discover Series and to introduce you to the funky, poppy rock vibes of Washington DC's Oh He Dead, and special guest Virg Vision, Virginia's resident synth goddess (and 2024 Tiny Desk darling). Join us on Sunday, December 8th as the band performs new songs from their acclaimed third album, Ugly. If you love great music and being the first to the party, you simply can't miss taking in this show. Our new Discover Series will continue to bring you the best new music that you should know.
Led by CJ Bowlin’ Johnson and her golden pipes, the five-piece Oh He Dead includes lead guitarist Alex Salser, John-Daise-on-the-bass (say it out loud), Adam Ashforth on drums, and Piano Whitman on keys. The close-knit crew is known for their contagious joy, and for putting on a hell of a live show as Johnson “maneuversher powerful voice — a combination of Stevie Nicks and Tracy Chapman” (Kojo Nnamdi) in rhythm with the band’s “sublime instrumentation” (NPR) and “infectious and soulful sound” (Washington Post). Their third album, Ugly is out now.
ViRG is a synth-based indie rock band from Virginia formed by Piano Whitman. ViRG is centered around femininity and freedom while highlighting the whiplash of an unstable lifestyle, guilt, and the devastation of love. Whitman’s commanding voice is reinforced by intricate, lush synthesizers and strong rhythms produced by both drum-machines and acoustic percussion. Fans of both straight ahead indie-pop songwriting or the moody tech excursions of ‘Kid A’ will find something to enjoy in ViRG’s repertoire.
