The Yussef Dayes Experience
City Winery Pittsburgh presents The Yussef Dayes Experience Wednesday, June 26th, 2024 6:30 PM
2023 was a real breakthrough moment for Yussef Dayes, propelling the versatile, multi-instrumentalist, drummer and composer further into the spotlight off the back of his debut solo studio album ‘Black Classical Music’, with collaborations like Masego, Chronixx, Jamilah Barry, Tom Misch and more. The record was #1 best seller on Bandcamp and Dayes has since been nominated for two Brit Awards. The record was featured in the year’s best lists from the likes of Spotify, NPR Music, Rough Trade, BBC Radio 6 Music, Boston Globe, PopMatters, AllMusic, Loud and Quiet, Brooklyn Vegan, Treblezine, KCRW, WRTI, Qobuz as well as being featured on Channel 4 News and across 75+ editorial playlists across DSPs.
We saw Dayes go from strength to strength; selling out the iconic Royal Albert Hall in London during the sold out UK, US, Australia & Latin American tours, releasing a second breathtaking live performance session ‘Live From Malibu’ which has hit over 1M views, following on from the ‘Live at Joshua Tree’ EP. Ending 2023, Yussef became the first ever solo drummer to headline a viral Colors show performance, which has amassed over 3.2M views in the space of 3 weeks, as well as performing on BBC’s Later With Jools Holland. Previously working with the likes of Kali Uchis, Wizkid and Kehlani, his list of collaborators continues to blossom. Being highly connected with the fashion world, Yussef has worked hand in hand with Virgil Abloh on Louis Vuitton and Off-White, as well as working with the likes of Marni, Lacoste and many others; a highlight was composing the soundtrack to the Mens Spring/Summer 2021 Louis Vuitton Show in Tokyo.
